Borders are they necessary?

This week I am designing a poll focusing on illegal immigration. The purpose that I am trying to find in the poll I designed to find if the states are safer with securing/closing their borders or if migration of the masses are good for the economy? Any thoughts are welcome

  1. Hmm, thats a good question. Personally I can't believe that migration can be good for the economy. More people means more people trying to get jobs that don't exist. Most people who do migrate to the US are broke and wouldnt stimulate the economy anyways. They are here to make their "American Dream"

  2. I think borders are obsolete. Better mobility of capital (in the form of labor) means a stronger economy. Why else would Europe pursue more open borders with the Schengen agreement and with the EU itself? They are trying to emulate the freedom of mobility that has existed within the United States since its inception, and lo and behold, since they have done so, their economies have collectively seen a growing trend.

  3. The EU has definitely been known to be at the front of new ideas, innovations and improving international relations. And as seen in the history of China during one of the Empire's case when they tried isolating their borders they suffered from not having the flow of new ideas and technology help improve their economy causing them to fall slightly behind during that period. Although for poor immigrants without the necessary skills to participate leaves them with the only option of charity and help from the government, putting more strain on resources. Both good points
